I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Hey, I'm susan!

Bryant Park Grill NYC Wedding

Bryant Park Grill at 25 West 40th Street sits behind the New York Public Library in the middle of Midtown Manhattan. Three distinct spaces — a rooftop terrace, a Parisian-style garden, and an indoor dining room — with the park and the Library steps away for portraits. Up to 220 seated. It is a cool space in a genuinely excellent location. The park itself is extraordinary for portraits except when the winter holiday market takes over and makes the whole area nearly impassable — plan accordingly if you are considering a November or December wedding here.

About the Venue

25 West 40th Street, Midtown Manhattan, behind the New York Public Library. Three event spaces across the venue. Up to 220 guests seated, up to 1,000 cocktail style for full venue buyout. In-house catering. Note: as of recent reporting, there has been uncertainty about the Bryant Park Grill’s lease. Couples should confirm current booking availability directly with the venue before planning around it.

The Spaces

The Rooftop Terrace is 4,498 square feet overlooking Bryant Park with views of the Midtown skyline. Up to 275 guests for ceremonies and cocktail receptions. A heated, carpeted, clear tent is in place October through December for year-round use. This is the signature ceremony location.

The South Garden is the Parisian-style outdoor garden space at ground level surrounded by London Plane trees. Up to 220 guests for seated dinner. The canopy of trees creates a completely different character from the open rooftop — more enclosed and intimate.

The Grill Dining Room is the sophisticated indoor reception space with classic wood paneling and warm ambient lighting. Up to 220 guests for seated dinner and dancing. Used for receptions after rooftop or garden ceremonies.

Portrait Locations Near Bryant Park Grill

The New York Public Library is directly next door and is one of the most photographed architectural landmarks in Manhattan. The grand Beaux-Arts facade, the steps, the lions — all available immediately before or after the ceremony with minimal travel time (but you can’t go inside, just fyi, unless you’re getting married there!). Bryant Park itself provides tree-lined paths, the lawn, and fountain areas for outdoor portraits. However: from November through January, the Bryant Park Winter Village holiday market fills the park and makes portrait access extremely difficult. If your wedding is in this window, plan your portrait timeline accordingly or scout alternative Midtown locations in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions: Bryant Park Grill Weddings

Where is Bryant Park Grill located?

25 West 40th Street in Midtown Manhattan, behind the New York Public Library and adjacent to Bryant Park.

What is Bryant Park Grill?

A restaurant wedding venue in Midtown Manhattan. Rooftop Terrace up to 275 for ceremonies, South Garden and Grill Dining Room each up to 220 seated, full venue buyout up to 1,000 cocktail style. In-house catering. Note: confirm current lease and booking status directly with the venue.

What makes Bryant Park Grill distinctive?

The combination of three genuinely different spaces — rooftop, garden, indoor dining room — within one venue gives couples more variety than most Manhattan restaurants. The New York Public Library immediately next door is one of the best portrait locations in the city. And the park itself, when it is not occupied by the holiday market, is extraordinary for outdoor portraits in the middle of Midtown.

When should I avoid Bryant Park Grill for a wedding?

November through January when the Bryant Park Winter Village holiday market is active. The market fills most of the park and makes outdoor portrait access in the area very difficult. If you have your heart set on this venue during that window, scout alternative Midtown portrait locations in advance.

Do you photograph weddings at Bryant Park Grill?

Yes. If your wedding is here, I would love to hear about it.
