I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Hey, I'm susan!

How long until I get my wedding photos back?

Eight weeks.

That is my turnaround time, and it is not arbitrary. I arrived at it by working backward from every worst-case scenario I could think of. What if I get sick? What if two weddings fall in the same weekend and both need full attention? What if something in my life requires me to stop working for a week? Eight weeks is the number that accounts for all of it and still gets your images to you without compromise.

In practice, I almost always deliver earlier. But the guarantee is eight weeks, because your photographs should not suffer because of what is happening in my life or the world at large.

What Is Actually Happening During Those Eight Weeks

After your wedding, every image gets a first pass: culling thousands of frames down to the ones that tell your story. Then editing: color correction, exposure, contrast, the specific look that makes my work look like my work applied consistently across an entire day’s worth of images. This is not a filter. It is deliberate, image-by-image work.

A full wedding day produces a lot of images. Doing that work carefully, at the level I hold myself to, takes real time. Eight weeks is what that time looks like when I am also running a business, shooting other weddings, and building in a buffer so that your deadline never becomes a casualty of life’s unpredictability.

Sneak Peeks

I send sneak peeks quickly. A small selection of images from your day, delivered within days of the wedding, so you have something to share and something to hold onto while the full gallery is in progress. Most couples find this takes the edge off the wait considerably.

If You Need Something Sooner

Ask. There are circumstances where waiting eight weeks is genuinely hard. An elderly grandparent who wants to see the images. A family member who is ill. A specific image needed for an announcement. I take these requests seriously and I will do everything I can to get you what you need when you need it.

What I will not do is rush the full gallery at the expense of quality. The sneak peek exists precisely for moments when something specific matters urgently. The full gallery gets the time it needs.

What to Ask Any Photographer About Turnaround Time

Ask for the guaranteed delivery time, not the hoped-for one. Ask what happens if they miss it. Ask whether sneak peeks are included and how quickly they arrive. Ask what their policy is if you have a specific urgent need.

A photographer who has thought carefully about these questions will have clear answers. The turnaround time tells you something about how a photographer runs their business and how much they have considered your experience after the wedding, not just on it.

Frequently Asked Questions: Wedding Photo Turnaround Time

How long does it take to get wedding photos back?

It varies by photographer. Industry standard is typically six to twelve weeks for a fully edited gallery. My turnaround time is eight weeks, guaranteed, with sneak peeks delivered within days of the wedding. Always ask for the guaranteed delivery date before booking, not the average or the estimate.

Why does it take so long to get wedding photos?

A full wedding day produces thousands of images. The editing process involves culling all of them down to the final selection, then editing each kept image for color, exposure, and consistency. Done carefully, this takes significant time. Photographers who promise two-week turnarounds are either delivering minimally edited images or working at a pace that compromises quality.

What is a wedding photo sneak peek?

A small selection of images from your wedding delivered quickly after the day, before the full gallery is complete. Most photographers who offer sneak peeks deliver them within a few days to a week. They give you something to share and something to hold onto while the full editing process is underway.

Can you get wedding photos back faster if you need them urgently?

Talk to your photographer. For specific images needed urgently, such as for an announcement, or for a family member who is ill and wants to see the photographs, most photographers will do what they can. The full gallery timeline is harder to compress without compromising quality, but individual images or a larger sneak peek set are often possible.

What happens if a photographer misses their delivery deadline?

This should be addressed in your contract. Before booking, ask what the policy is if the delivery deadline is not met. A photographer who has a clear answer to that question has thought seriously about their obligations to you. One who dismisses the question or becomes defensive is worth noting.

Is eight weeks a long time to wait for wedding photos?

It is the right amount of time to do the work properly. The images from your wedding are permanent. Eight weeks is a small fraction of the time you will spend looking at them.

Eight weeks. Every image edited the way it deserves. Sneak peeks in the meantime, and room to move if something urgent comes up. That is the commitment.
