I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Plan a New York Yacht Club Wedding

How does saying “I do” in the heart of New York City sound to you? To take it a step further, how do you feel about getting married in a venue that’s a hidden gem in the city that exudes luxury, charm, and historic grandeur?

If that sounds like a dream come true, then a New York Yacht Club wedding at the 44th Street Clubhouse might be the venue you’ve been searching for.

As a New York wedding photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of incredible wedding venues throughout the city. Still, the one word I would use to describe this venue is “spectacular.” However, even that word doesn’t feel like enough to encapsulate everything this venue has to offer and how truly fabulous it is.

When you do a quick search for more info on this venue, not a whole lot of results pop up specifically for the “44th Street Clubhouse” which is why I consider it still an undiscovered treasure of the city.

This is exactly what you’re looking for if you want a venue that is different from anything else you’ve seen before and a celebration that is anything but ordinary.

Read on to learn more about planning your wedding at the New York Yacht Club on 44th Street. Plus, discover why I’m such a huge fan of this venue.

New York Yacht Club Wedding at 44th Street Clubhouse

The first thing to know about the New York Yacht Club is that you can choose from two different locations. One is in Newport, Rhode Island, called Harbour Court. The other location is in New York, called the 44th Street Clubhouse

The couple featured in this blog tied the knot at the 44th Street Clubhouse in the winter. Even though the word “yacht club” is in the title, be aware that this venue is in Times Square. It’s not on the water and doesn’t have any boats to speak of. However, it was the perfect destination for an elegant indoor wedding during a chilly New York winter.

The 44th Street Clubhouse is a seven-story Beaux-Arts building that you’ll find in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood. It was designed by the Grand Central Station architect Whitney Warren.

This club opened its doors back in 1901, and the exterior of the 44th Street building was designated as a landmark by the City of New York Landmarks Preservation Commission. The building has a maritime theme, and many of the facade and interior decorations coincide with this theme.

Inside the 44th Club Street Clubhouse

It’s a stunningly beautiful building both inside and out, and one of the most remarkable features of the venue is the Model Room. The Model Room is the principal room in this building, with three huge galleon-style windows and a magnificent stone hearth. It houses 1,340 scaled replicas, of which 150 are full-hulled and rigged models.

Inside the building, you’ll also find a full bar, leather couches, a library packed full of nautical volumes, and a dining room that is shaped like the interior of a hull.

I have to mention that this venue is the epitome of grandeur and elegance. Imagine your wedding with everything aglow, with candlelight and chandeliers that create a warm and inviting ambiance, and you have a wedding gallery full of photos that look like they came straight out of Vogue.

The building itself is fairly dark throughout, creating an intimate, romantic atmosphere. It is ideal for you if you want your wedding to feel timeless and luxurious. There’s also a beautiful main grand staircase, which is a dreamy spot for gorgeous editorial-style portraits, a first look, or a dramatic entrance.

Plan Your Wedding at the New York Yacht Club

If you do plan your wedding here, you’ll definitely want to work with a wedding photographer who excels at capturing portraits in low/dark lighting. Luckily, capturing beauty in low-light/dark settings is not just something I do occasionally—it’s one of my specialties.

Want to learn more about your wedding here? First, you’ll need to head to the New York Yacht Club’s private event page. There you’ll find info about who you need to contact so you can get started planning your celebration. You can find the Yacht Club’s private event page here.

Why You Should Have a Winter Wedding at the New York Yacht Club

If you love the idea of having a wedding in New York City, why not have a magical winter wedding? I know the most popular times of the year for weddings typically fall between fall and summer, but there’s something so special about New York City when it’s enveloped in snow.

The New York Yacht Club on 44th Street is a fantastic choice for a winter wedding because you can not only stay warm and cozy indoors, but you will also find a picturesque backdrop around every corner, from the library or the elegant, shadowy archways to the exterior of the building.

Another great reason to plan a winter wedding? At this time of year, you’ll also encounter way less tourists throughout the city. Plus, you can weave the best that New York City has to offer into your wedding, whether that’s a carriage ride through the city, exploring Times Square,  ice skating in Bryant Park, or sipping afternoon tea at the Grand Salon at the Baccarat Hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions: New York Yacht Club Weddings

Where is the New York Yacht Club located for weddings? The 44th Street Clubhouse is at 37 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan. Despite the name, it’s not on the water — it’s a seven-story Beaux-Arts building in the heart of Midtown, steps from Bryant Park and Grand Central. The nautical theme is all in the architecture and interior design.

Is the New York Yacht Club a private venue? Yes — it’s a private members club, which means you’ll need a member connection or to work through their private events team to book a wedding there. The exclusivity is part of what makes it special.

What is the Model Room? The principal room in the 44th Street Clubhouse — three enormous galleon-style windows, a magnificent stone hearth, and 1,340 scaled ship replicas including 150 full-hulled rigged models. It’s one of the most extraordinary and distinctive ceremony or reception spaces in New York City. There is genuinely nothing else like it.

What’s the light like at the New York Yacht Club? Dark, warm, and intimate throughout — candlelight and chandeliers create a romantic atmosphere that photographs beautifully. It’s not a bright, airy venue. If you want moody and luxurious, this is your place. You need a photographer who is genuinely comfortable working in low ambient light.

What are the best photo locations inside the New York Yacht Club? The grand staircase is extraordinary for first looks and dramatic entrances. The Model Room with those galleon windows is unlike anything else in the city. The library with its nautical volumes and leather furniture is a beautiful spot for intimate portraits.

What time of year is best for a New York Yacht Club wedding? Winter is when this venue is at its most magical — the dark interiors feel cozy rather than heavy, the candlelight is doing everything, and Midtown Manhattan in winter gives you Bryant Park, the Rockefeller Center tree, and streets that feel cinematic. Fall is also beautiful. Summer works but the venue’s character is best appreciated when it’s cold outside.

Do you photograph weddings at the New York Yacht Club? Yes — it’s one of the most visually extraordinary venues in Manhattan and one I’d shoot again without hesitation. If your wedding is here, I’d love to hear about it. For more on what I do in Manhattan, my New York City wedding photographer post covers the full picture.

The New York Yacht Club is one of those venues that stops people mid-scroll when they see the photos. If your wedding is here, I’d love to hear about it.
