I first met this remarkable groom at his sister’s wedding – and I swear it was only about a year ago. It just goes to show that time moves in crazy ways, because his sister and her husband now have two children with one more on the way! This wedding at the Madison Hotel brought together family and friends in one remarkable, snowy, cozy day.
It takes a special couple to brave possible inclement weather and have a winter wedding. It takes an even more special couple to be willing to brave the sudden torrential downpour of snow for a few night portraits. There is something so remarkable about starting your wedding ceremony with a bright sky and ending it with a flurry of puffy, sweet snowflakes. Like this incredible duo, it was simply breathtaking.

Madison Hotel Morristown Wedding Photographer
The Madison Hotel at One Convent Road in Morristown, New Jersey has been hosting weddings for over 85 years. The Conservatory is a glass-enclosed greenhouse ceremony space filled with seasonal flowers and greenery — it is one of the most naturally beautiful ceremony rooms in New Jersey, and it reduces floral costs because the venue’s own plants are already extraordinary. The Glynallynn Ballroom at 4,000 square feet with arched mirrors, gilded columns, and crystal chandeliers for the reception. 186 guest rooms. NJ Transit Convent Station is directly behind the hotel — one hour from Penn Station. I photographed a February wedding here in a snowstorm. The portraits outside in the snow with that greenhouse interior to come back to were extraordinary.
About the Venue
One Convent Road, Morristown, New Jersey. Over 85 years hosting events. 16,000-plus square feet of event space. 186 guest rooms and suites. NJ Transit Convent Station directly behind the hotel — one hour from Penn Station. In-house catering. Complimentary bridal suite and tasting with minimum food and beverage commitment.
The Spaces
The Conservatory is the signature ceremony space — a glass-enclosed greenhouse filled with seasonal flowers and thriving greenery, oversized crystal chandeliers, and natural light streaming through the glass roof. It is one of the most visually distinctive ceremony spaces in New Jersey. The venue’s own seasonal plantings mean couples save substantially on ceremony florals. The lower Conservatory provides additional event space adjacent to the main greenhouse.
The Glynallynn Ballroom is the primary reception space at 4,000 square feet. Tall arched mirrors, gilded corner columns, crystal chandeliers. Up to 250 guests. Dance floor centered in the room.
The Victorian Suite serves as the cocktail hour space between ceremony and reception. The Garden Room is available for rehearsal dinners and smaller celebrations.
Rod’s Steakhouse and the Red Dog Tavern are the on-site restaurants, used for after-parties and farewell brunches. The hotel’s oak-paneled bar and the authentic 1800s railroad parlor cars on the property are distinctive portrait locations found nowhere else in New Jersey.

The Conservatory ceremony under the glass roof with the seasonal flowers and oversized chandeliers. The Glynallynn Ballroom reception under the arched mirrors and gilded columns. The oak-paneled bar for formal portraits. The authentic 1800s parlor train cars on the property — one of the most unusual portrait backdrops of any New Jersey hotel venue. The hotel exterior. And in winter, the grounds in the snow — the Conservatory’s warmth and greenery photographed against a snowy Morristown exterior is a combination I have not encountered at any other New Jersey venue.
Frequently Asked Questions: Madison Hotel Weddings
Where is the Madison Hotel located?
One Convent Road in Morristown, New Jersey. NJ Transit’s Convent Station is directly behind the hotel — one hour from Penn Station. Easy access for New York City guests.
What is the Madison Hotel?
A historic hotel in Morristown with over 85 years of event experience. 16,000-plus square feet of event space. The Conservatory glass greenhouse ceremony space. Glynallynn Ballroom at 4,000 square feet, up to 250 guests. Victorian Suite for cocktail hour. 186 guest rooms. In-house catering. On-site restaurants for rehearsal dinners and after-parties.
What makes the Madison Hotel distinctive?
The Conservatory. A glass greenhouse ceremony space with seasonal flowers and greenery already in place is genuinely unusual — most New Jersey hotel venues have ballrooms for ceremonies, not a botanical space. The 1800s parlor train cars on the property are a portrait location that exists nowhere else. And the direct NJ Transit access makes this one of the most accessible New Jersey wedding venues for New York City guests.
Is the Madison Hotel good for winter weddings?
Yes. The Conservatory’s greenhouse character is especially beautiful in winter — the warmth and greenery inside against the cold outside creates something extraordinary. Winter portraits in snow with the glass greenhouse as the backdrop photograph unlike anything available at a summer venue.
Do you photograph weddings at the Madison Hotel?
Yes. If your wedding is here, I would love to hear about it.
