I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

About The Frick Collection Wedding Venue

Set aback from Fifth Avenue and surrounded by magnolia trees, The Frick Collection is an art museum built in 1913. It consists of more than 1400 works of art from the ninth to the 19th centuries. These works are displayed in the personal surroundings of the former residence of Henry Clay Frick, a Pittsburgh industrialist. This astonishing museum is one of New York City’s few remaining Gilded Age mansions. It is internationally recognized for the distinguished old master paintings held within its collection.

Since 1935, the Frick Collection has been publicly displaying its 16 permanent galleries of furnishings and works of art while still acquiring art and expanding physically even after Mr. Frick died in 1919. Nearly half of the collection’s paintings, several essential sculptures, and decorative art objects have been acquired since then. Additionally, the building has expanded thrice to serve the public better. Between 1940 and 1972, the trustees of the Frick Collection received three adjoining properties with plans to build an additional wing and garden.

The final structure, designed by John Barrington Bayley with Harry Van Dyke and G. Frederick Poehler, was completed in 1977. This expansion includes the reception hall, coat room, and shop, while its lower floor houses galleries. While this venue may feel grand, expensive, and fit for an extensive guest list, the scenic space provides an elegant yet intimate setting for any ceremony, reception, cocktail party, or welcome dinner, making it the perfect venue for a unique wedding!

Details of the Grounds

The most popular area at the Frick Collection wedding venue is the Music Room. The Music Room offers 1,625 square feet, and would be ideal for dancing and cocktails! The Music Room can typically hold up to 450 guests comfortably. The Frick Collection also features its Garden Court, which may be more ideal for dinner. The Garden Court offers the possibility of assembled tables under the palm fronds surrounding the glorious indoor fountain.

The guest count could be up to 180 for a seated dinner. The Frick Collection reserves its after-hours for all events, from 7 PM to midnight. This time frame allows guests to experience Frick’s outstanding art collection in an unhurried way.

Photography Opportunities

The Frick Collection wedding venue certainly offers an unlimited amount of photography opportunities. Throughout the museum, you can find an abundance of perfect collection pieces to feature in any one of your wedding portraits! The Music Room would allow for capturing the most stunning shot of you and your new spouse while dancing into the late night hours. The Music Room is one of the best spots for spontaneity. This is perfect for those beautiful images you can fondly reminisce about in the glorious years to come.

One of the best venue features, the Garden Court, can offer natural light and many scenic backdrops amongst the thriving foliage and florals! This area would be the best for any posed images you’d want or even any spontaneous shots you’d wish to capture around the water fountain. This water fountain offers a fantastic focal point! The old architecture and substantial white columns show a slightly aged background. This background still makes for a perfect timeless feel!

Wedding Details

The Frick Collection wedding venue recently opened its doors to host wedding receptions for current members of the collection, but it does not permit ceremonies. The Frick Collection allows all wedding details to be decided by you. They offer a list of recommended vendors such as caterers, musicians, and more. Your vendors must bring in everything from tables, place settings, decorations, and ovens to turn it into the perfect setting for a wedding.

Although the Frick Collection abounds with beautiful artwork on its walls, most of the reception details are entirely custom to you and your wedding. Any additional details, such as decorations, food, tables, and music, are all left up to you to plan as long as the museum curators permit it. The Frick Collection also notes a recommended procession of events, starting with the arrival of guests.

As guests arrive for the wedding cocktail hour, workers may direct them to the beautiful lobby space. This space simply glows with its high ceilings and large window doors. During the wedding cocktail hour, guests can enjoy specialty cocktails, such as the Madeleine, made with Blanco tequila, fresh strawberry nectar, pink peppercorn, Pino Sheri, and basil. As for dinner and reception, guests would be introduced to the intimately set Garden Court. They will admire the beautiful foliage and water fountain during the entirety of the reception!

You and your guests will also be free to admire any part of the Frick Collection during your event! It doesn’t get much better than enjoying a specialty cocktail amongst beautiful artwork while enjoying live music and dancing after a glorious, celebratory dinner!
