I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Hey, I'm susan!

Beekman Hotel Wedding

The Beekman Hotel in Lower Manhattan was built in 1881 as one of the city’s first skyscrapers. The nine-story Victorian atrium with a pyramidal skylight is the reason people keep booking it. Natural light drops nine stories through that skylight and lands on a black-and-white mosaic-tiled floor. Tom Colicchio handles the food. Maximum 90 guests. It is an intimate venue by design, and it photographs unlike anything else in Manhattan.

About the Venue

Located in Lower Manhattan near the Brooklyn Bridge and One World Trade Center. A Thompson Hotel by Hyatt. Built in 1881, it was carefully restored and reopened as a hotel in 2016, with the original Victorian atrium preserved intact. Catering exclusively by Tom Colicchio’s Crafted Hospitality team, which also operates the Temple Court restaurant inside the hotel. Maximum capacity 90 guests for a full ceremony and reception. This is an intimate venue — not suitable for large guest lists.

The Event Spaces

The Cellar level connects the Farnsworth Room, Kelly Room, and Emerson Lounge into 3,100 square feet of reception space. Exposed brick, terracotta walls, black and white tiled floors, antique chandeliers. The full Cellar is the primary reception option and accommodates up to 90 guests for ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing.

Clinton Hall is the second-floor event space with arched entries adjacent to the iconic atrium, custom crystal chandeliers, and ten floor-to-ceiling windows. Capacity up to 100. Refined and light-filled.

The Wisteria Room is the intimate ceremony option with hanging wisteria and a garden-like atmosphere that feels removed from downtown Manhattan.

The West and East Penthouses are the outdoor option: duplex suites on the 10th floor with three private rooftop terraces overlooking Lower Manhattan’s red brick and terracotta exteriors and the building’s signature turrets. For couples who want an outdoor ceremony with the historic Beekman exterior as the backdrop.

Photography at The Beekman

The nine-story atrium is the defining photographic feature. Natural light from the pyramidal skylight nine stories up creates conditions for indoor portraits that most venues cannot replicate. The ornate Victorian ironwork is on each balcony level. The black-and-white mosaic floors in the pre-function spaces. The brick and vintage chandeliers of the Farnsworth Room. The rooftop terraces with the turrets and the Lower Manhattan skyline.

One important note: photography in the atrium requires prior coordination with the hotel’s marketing team. This is not something to leave until the wedding day. Handle it in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions: The Beekman Hotel Weddings

Where is The Beekman Hotel located?

123 Nassau Street in Lower Manhattan, New York City, near the Brooklyn Bridge and One World Trade Center. More at thebeekman.com.

What is The Beekman Hotel?

A landmark Lower Manhattan hotel built in 1881 with a nine-story Victorian atrium and pyramidal skylight reopened as a Thompson Hotel in 2016. Wedding capacity up to 90 guests. Multiple event spaces, including the Cellar, Clinton Hall, the Wisteria Room, and rooftop penthouses. Exclusive catering by Tom Colicchio’s Crafted Hospitality.

What makes The Beekman Hotel distinctive as a wedding venue?

The atrium. Nine stories of Victorian ironwork rising to a pyramidal skylight. It is the reason the venue photographs unlike anything else in Manhattan, and the reason guests stop when they walk in. The intimacy of 90 guests maximum means every wedding here is genuinely personal. And Tom Colicchio’s culinary program is a meaningful differentiator for food-focused couples.

How many guests can The Beekman accommodate for a wedding?

90 guests maximum for a full ceremony and reception in the Cellar. This is an intimate venue by design. If your guest list is larger than 90, this is not the right venue.

What should I know before booking The Beekman Hotel?

Photography in the atrium requires prior coordination with the hotel marketing team — do this early. Room blocks for guests should be booked 8 to 12 months in advance. Food and beverage minimums apply: at least $10,000 to $12,000 for daytime and $21,000 to $24,000 for evening events. Outside vendors are permitted upon presentation of a Certificate of Insurance.
