Della Terra Mountain Chateau sits at the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado. At 8,296 feet, with MacGregor Mountain as the backdrop for outdoor ceremonies, 14 luxury suites with private hot tubs, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Rockies in three directions, and the kind of light that only exists at this elevation. I have photographed here and love it.
About the Venue
Located just above Estes Park at the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, Della Terra is a luxury boutique inn and wedding venue on 14 acres surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. Operated by Wedgewood Weddings. Approximately 90 minutes from Denver International Airport, making it a genuine destination wedding option with real accessibility for out-of-town guests.
The Event Spaces
The Mountain Vista Ceremony Site is the outdoor ceremony space: a raised brick stage with a natural cedar vineyard trellis above, MacGregor Mountain in the background, Aspen trees on all sides, and a terraced seating area where every guest has a clear sightline. Lush and green in warmer months, a winter wonderland when it snows. Wildlife wanders through during ceremonies regularly. Deer have stepped into the ceremony backdrops mid-vow.
The Pinecrest Patio hosts outdoor cocktail hours, overlooking the rustic stone facade of the Chateau and artfully lit by festive lights.
The indoor reception space has floor-to-ceiling windows capturing mountain views in three directions, vaulted ceilings, a raised platform, a dance floor, a full-service bar, and multiple balcony overlooks. Two large fireplaces anchor the upstairs gathering space.
The Celebration Place is the indoor ceremony option: an elegant, light-filled space with grand windows framing the mountain scenery, designed for any weather.
The Accommodations
14 luxury suites with see-through fireplaces, soaking tubs, walk-through jetted showers, and private balconies with hot tubs. Each suite has a unique design theme. Complimentary breakfast daily. Five historic family log cabins on the property accommodate guests with children (children are not permitted as overnight guests in the Chateau suites). The venue works beautifully as a full wedding weekend destination.
An upstairs getting-ready suite with good natural light handles morning coverage. A theater room provides a gathering space for the wedding party before the ceremony.
Photography at Della Terra
The outdoor ceremony site with MacGregor Mountain behind the couple is extraordinary. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the reception space create dramatic portrait opportunities with the Rockies as the backdrop. The stone facade of the Chateau against the mountain setting. The surrounding forest paths and granite cliffs. The private hot tub balconies for intimate couple portraits. And the light at 8,296 feet has a clarity and quality that lower-elevation venues simply cannot replicate.

Yes. If your wedding is at Della Terra Mountain Chateau, I would love to hear about it.
Where do you stay when you photograph at Della Terra?
The Stanley Hotel, about 10 minutes away and famously haunted. I went on two ghost tours while I was there. On one of them, something touched my hair. I have no explanation for this, and I think about it more than I should.
