How I see, shoot, and make decisions on the fly—now in book form
When photographers ask how I find good light, how I choose where to stand, or how I make ordinary spaces work, the answer isn’t magic or instinct. It’s observation. It’s repetition. It’s learning to see the pieces of an image before the image even exists.
Find the Frame is my newest book, and it’s built entirely around that process. It’s not organized into chapters or labeled scenarios. It’s a throughline—an ongoing conversation about how I see, what I look for, and how I make decisions under pressure on a wedding day.
This book explores the visual tools I return to again and again: patches of light, silhouettes, framing devices, reflections, leading lines, strong backgrounds, motion blur, and more. You’ll see how I use space, shape, and light in real moments and real locations—often the kinds of places we all shoot in, not just the “pretty” ones.
There’s no formula here. No checklist. Just real-world examples of how I work through a scene, how I find a frame that holds together, and how I keep shooting with purpose even when the situation is messy, fast, or unpredictable.
If you’ve ever walked into a room and thought, “I don’t know where to start,” this book is for you. Let’s figure that out—together.
