Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren, New Jersey, is the only Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired wedding venue in New Jersey. Ten acres in the Watchung Mountains, steel and wood and stone and glass, a Grand Ballroom with 16-foot ceilings, a patio with a stone fireplace and wooden pergola, and Executive Chef David Drake running one of the most celebrated culinary programs in the state. I have photographed here, and it is one of my favorite venues in the region.
About the Venue
Located at 50 Stirling Road in Warren, New Jersey, Stone House at Stirling Ridge sits on 10 acres in the Watchung Mountains. The Frank Lloyd Wright architectural philosophy runs through every element of the property: the integration of natural materials, the connection between interior and exterior, the way steel and wood and stone and glass come together in a way that feels both artful and completely of its place. Chef David Drake, credited as the “New Jersey Pioneer of Modern American Cuisine with Classic French Roots,” leads the culinary program. The food here is genuinely exceptional.
The Event Spaces
The Grand Ballroom is the primary reception space: 16-foot ceilings, a series of glass doors that open onto private gardens and fire pits, and views across the Watchung Mountain gardens in every season. Hardwood floors, slate, contemporary chandeliers, and a neutral palette that works with any aesthetic. Accommodates up to 200 guests.
The Lodge is a second event space on the opposite side of the property, mid-century modern with an industrial character. The Grand Ballroom and The Lodge are at opposite ends of the property, ensuring exclusive use and privacy for each couple.
The Patio is the primary outdoor ceremony space. A stone fireplace, a wooden pergola, lush gardens, and an intimacy that makes it excellent not just for ceremonies but for family and wedding party portraits throughout the day.
The Star Room Bar and Water Table is an outdoor space with fire pits, pine and stone structures, a water feature, bocce ball courts, and a full-service bar. Mixologists craft custom cocktails here. This is where cocktail hour lives and it is genuinely beautiful.
Why I Love Shooting Here
The patio is one of the best ceremony and portrait locations I work with in New Jersey. The Grand Ballroom is extraordinary for indoor portraits, with its high ceiling and the natural light coming through the glass doors. The property has genuine architectural character that photographs with depth and specificity. And the food keeps guests happy, which makes the reception energy good.
