I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Hey, I'm susan!

Central Park Boathouse Wedding Photographer

The Central Park Boathouse is the only Manhattan wedding venue on a lake. It sits on the Central Park Lake at East 72nd Street with rowboats drifting past the windows, Bethesda Terrace a short walk away, and the kind of light in late afternoon that makes photographers want to stay forever. Recently renovated and now operating as the Central Park Boathouse. I have photographed here and would photograph here again without hesitation.

About the Venue

Originally known as the Loeb Boathouse, rebuilt in 1954 and a Central Park fixture ever since — featured in When Harry Met Sally and Sex and the City. Recently renovated and rebranded as the Central Park Boathouse. The event space is 4,300 square feet with exclusive access for private events. In-house catering. No rental fee but guest minimums apply: 165 guests on Saturdays, 125 on Fridays and Sundays.

The Space

The event room overlooks the Central Park Lake directly. The water, the rowboats, the trees, and the park skyline are visible throughout the reception. The outdoor patio seats 80 and is one of the most beautiful cocktail hour spaces in New York City.

No cars are permitted in the park during evening hours. Transportation to and from the venue requires planning — shuttle service or nearby garages outside the park. Factor this into your logistics early.

The Gondola

A Venetian gondola is available for hire on the lake for portrait sessions before or after the ceremony. This produces images unlike anything else from a New York City wedding. Worth knowing about and worth building into your timeline.

Bethesda Terrace for the ceremony and formal portraits, a short walk away. The gondola on the lake for a couple of portraits. The surrounding Central Park landscape in every season. The light here in late afternoon in fall is extraordinary.
