Winter wedding at Front and Palmer
Who? : Samantha + Eric
What? : Preparations at the Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia, ceremony at Christ Church, portraits in Headhouse Square, and reception at a former Philly barrel factory.
Where? Front and Palmer
When? : December 2018
All wedding photographers have favorite venues : it’s just a fact. Some might love a space because of the sweeping lawns. Some might be drawn to a particular venue’s swirling spiral staircase. Some might love how the light plays across a patio at cocktail hour. Me? I’m most drawn to light, to the dramatic juxtaposition of shadow and highlight, to warmth, kindness, and more than a healthy sense of drama.
Front and Palmer is one of those venues. Cozy, intimate, theatrical, unique – it is all of those things and so much more.
This whole winter wedding was pure Philadelphia through and through. From their preparations at the iconic Hotel Monaco to the classic grandeur of Christ Church, nighttime portraits across from my favorite pizza place in the crisp cold winter air to the most charming of receptions, the whole day was Samantha and Eric through and through : just wonderful.
Here are a few of my favorite images from their wedding:
Front & Palmer: A Chic and Industrial Winter Wonderland in Philadelphia
Front & Palmer, set in the heart of Philadelphia’s thriving arts district, emerges as a distinctive choice for a winter wedding, blending industrial chic with modern sophistication. This former barrel factory, now transformed into a loft-style event space, offers a unique and stylish backdrop for couples looking for an unconventional yet elegant wedding setting during the cooler months.
The Industrial Charm of Front & Palmer
As guests step into Front & Palmer, they are welcomed into a space where urban industrial aesthetics meet contemporary elegance. The venue’s high ceilings, exposed beams, and original factory details are complemented by modern lighting and artistic installations, creating an atmosphere that is both edgy and sophisticated.
The main hall, with its expansive space and flexible layout, offers a blank canvas for creating a winter wedding wonderland. The juxtaposition of the raw, industrial elements with soft, romantic winter décor creates a uniquely inviting ambiance. The large windows allow natural light to filter in during the day and offer a view of the city’s twinkling lights in the evening, adding to the winter charm.
Capturing Winter Moments in an Urban Loft
Front & Palmer presents a wealth of opportunities for stunning wedding photography. The industrial textures of the building, from the exposed brick walls to the metal accents, provide a unique and dramatic backdrop for photos. The modern art pieces and installations scattered throughout the venue add an artistic and creative flair to the photographs.
Winter weddings at Front & Palmer can be especially magical, with the possibility of incorporating seasonal elements like soft lighting, candles, and winter florals to create a warm and intimate setting. The contrast of the cozy indoor atmosphere against the brisk outdoor urban landscape of Philadelphia creates a beautiful narrative of a winter wedding.
Embracing Philadelphia’s Artistic Spirit
Located in the Fishtown neighborhood, Front & Palmer is surrounded by the vibrant energy of one of Philadelphia’s most artistic areas. This location offers a chance to capture the urban spirit of the city in wedding photos, with colorful street art, historic buildings, and the dynamic cityscape adding an eclectic and vibrant backdrop.
