I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Hey, I'm susan!

Why Hire Me as Your Wedding Photographer?

There are numerous wedding photographers available. You’ve probably seen portfolios full of beautiful images, read a dozen bios that mention storytelling, and gotten lost in a sea of buzzwords like editorial and documentary. So let me get to the point.

I don’t just take beautiful pictures. I know how to make them happen—consistently, intentionally, and without pulling you out of the moment.  I’m kind, and I care about people.  I’m good at my job.  I love what I do.

Yes, the Basics Matter

You should absolutely hire someone who knows what they’re doing. Someone who can walk into any lighting situation and make it work. Someone who won’t get flustered when a timeline falls behind or a ceremony runs long. Someone who can manage moving parts, stay calm, and adapt fast.

I’ve been photographing weddings for over twenty years. I’ve worked in tiny apartments and huge ballrooms, with one-hour timelines and all-day events. I’ve taught photographers across the world how to light, how to compose, and how to read a room. I’m a Canon Explorer of Light (a fancy term for ambassador), a Grand Master with ICON (formerly WPPI), and was named one of American Photo Magazine’s top ten wedding photographers in the world.  Writing this list of accolades makes me feel proud, and also a little awkward. Still, they’re all excellent additions to my resume that help solidify my reputation in the photography world.

But none of that would matter if I didn’t care wildly and deeply about the people in front of my lens.

What I Actually Bring to the Table

I see stories as they unfold—and I know how to tell them with precision and honesty. Every wedding is different. The dynamics, the energy, the way light falls into the room during toasts—it all changes minute to minute. I know how to work with that, not against it. I don’t force a narrative onto your day. I observe. I anticipate. I move quietly and quickly, so you can live in your wedding while I document it.

That’s where the authentic images live. Not just in the planned moments, but in the unguarded ones. I’ll never stop you in the middle of something important to get “the shot.” I’ll get the shot anyway.

I know how to use light, timing, and framing to turn a split second into something layered and meaningful. That’s not an accident. It’s the product of two decades of experience—and of paying close attention.

I Care About the Experience

Photography isn’t just about the final images. It’s about how you feel during the process. From the first email to the final gallery, I want you to feel taken care of. I like the experience of working together to be seamless, calm, and deeply personal.

I answer every question quickly and clearly. I help with timelines, locations, and logistics. I always keep the focus on you, not on me, not on the photos, but on your experience of the day.

I genuinely care about my clients. I care about ensuring that you can look back and see your day as it was, not as a highlight reel, but as something real, rich, and personal.

This Isn’t a Sales Pitch

You don’t need to be convinced. You need to find someone you trust. Someone who knows how to work a dark ceremony space without adding lights. Someone who knows how to frame a portrait that doesn’t feel like a pose. Someone who sees the quiet squeeze of a hand as just as necessary as the first kiss.

I’m that person. Not because I’m louder, flashier, or better at self-promotion. But because I’ve done the work, built the experience, and never stopped paying attention.

So, if you’re looking for someone who knows how to create intentional, emotional images in real-time—someone who respects your space, values your story, and works with care and clarity—then I think we’ll work well together (and have a really good time, too!). I’d love to tell your story.
