I capture the unspoken — the glances, the silences — drawing from New York's pulse and the richness of global cultures. Every wedding is its own intricate narrative. Rooted in theatre and life's everyday rhythms, I document moments both transient and timeless.

Hey, I'm susan!

7 Theater Lover Wedding Venues for a One-of-a-Kind Wedding

Theatre is woven into how I see my work — the blocking, the light, the timing, the storytelling. If it’s woven into how you see your life, too, here are the New York venues worth considering.

Theater Lover Wedding Venues in New York City

Radio City Music Hall

What better place to start off this list than Radio City Music Hall? Not only is it a stunning venue by itself, but it has also hosted 20 Tony Award ceremonies. What more could you ask for as a Broadway fan than to get married on the same stage that some of your favorite Broadway actors were once on?

When it comes to weddings here, you do have a couple of different options. The most memorable of these is the music hall itself. For a banquet-style event, the stage can seat up to 400 people, so you don’t have to worry about cutting down your guest list at all!

Along with the music hall, you can also choose the Grand Foyer or the Grand Lounge. The Grand Foyer has an old-school glamour, with 60-foot ceilings and gorgeous artwork throughout. It can also set up to 250 guests!

The Grand Lounge is a more relaxed option out of the three. With an Art Deco vibe, art, and sculptures throughout, this is a place you will never want to leave. You can also seat up to 250 people here, making it perfect for even slightly larger weddings.

Roulette

Roulette is a Beaux-Arts-style theater that was originally opened in the late 1920s. When Roulette moved into the building in 2010, they carefully renovated it to create one of the best-equipped theaters while preserving the original building’s charm and history.

When it comes to your wedding, the Roulette can be transformed into the dream venue for you to say I do. It can seat up to 240 people, and you can live your dreams of being up on the stage during the best day of your life.

They also give you full rein over how to decorate the space for your wedding (as long as you don’t leave any trace), so you can really turn this space into whatever you would like. You can even get ready in one of the basement dressing rooms to really feel like you are about to step out on stage!

Gotham Hall

For another truly grand wedding ceremony, Gotham Hall has everything you are looking for. Originally constructed in the early 1920s, Gotham Hall, the Greenwich Savings Bank, offers a sophisticated and upscale atmosphere with 70-foot ceilings and a massive stained-glass skylight.

As you are getting ready, you can head into the Oak Room. With hand-cut details, a fireplace, and a calming atmosphere, this is the perfect place to prepare for the event ahead.

The Grand Ballroom is the dream spot for any ceremony and reception. Not only is it an incredible backdrop on its own, but it can also be transformed to fit the vibe of your wedding. It can also seat hundreds of guests comfortably for a wedding of almost any size.

You can also choose between the Lounge and the Mezzanine for your cocktail reception. The Lounge is connected to the Grand Ballroom, making it easy for guests to move between the two. The Mezzanine overlooks the Grand Ballroom and gives your guests a close-up view of some of Gotham Hall’s stunning architectural details.

For a grand and spectacular wedding, there aren’t many places that will outdo Gotham Hall!

The Capitol Theatre

While the Capitol Theatre is located a bit outside of the city, it is still a great option if you are looking for a theater-lover wedding venue. The Capitol Theatre offers the perfect combination of the excitement of live entertainment and romance.

The theatre has a massive domed ceiling and plenty of room for you and your guests. The lobbies offer the perfect welcome to the venue, only elevated by the views from the balconies.

Get ready to walk down the aisle in their dressing rooms and spend time with your wedding parties in style in the green room. After you tie the knot, you can dance the night away with plenty of room for a live band on the stage!

Sony Hall

Originally opened in the late 1930s as a home for dinner theater and showgirls, Sony Hall has been transformed into a full-service event venue. The space features a few different locations to choose from and beautiful architecture that evokes an old-school feel.

If you are planning a larger wedding, their main ballroom is perfect for your wedding. Plus, there are two full bars, and the floor plan is pretty open, so you can transform it to fit your dream wedding.

For smaller, more intimate weddings or elopements, they also have an upstairs bar that seats up to 65 and a speakeasy that seats up to 40.

On top of just the venue space, they also have a team of planners who will help make sure each and every detail of your wedding is exactly what you want. They even have chefs in-house who can help curate a food and drink menu that is perfect for you and your guests!

The Apollo Theater

The Apollo Theater is a historic and legendary venue right in Harlem. It has been home to theater and dance performances, musicians, comedians, and so much more. Not only has this venue been the launching point for many famous artists and performers, but it has also hosted some of the biggest names in music and art.

For your special day, the main stage can be transformed from a concert hall to a beautiful venue for your dream wedding. You can even go all out for your wedding and create a red carpet in their lobby for your guests to walk across as they arrive for your ceremony!

Midnight Theatre

Last but certainly not least, we have the Midnight Theatre. This theater is located right in Manhattan West and is one of the newer wedding venues in New York City. Even though it is a bit newer, it still has an amazing 1920s vibe and hosts all sorts of entertainment, including cabaret, musicians, comedians, and more.

The theater can accommodate up to 150 guests and offers more than just a beautiful venue for saying I do. They are also in the same building as the very popular Hidden Leaf restaurant and cocktail lounge. Needless to say, the most difficult part of hosting your wedding here will be picking out your menu!

Final Thoughts on Theater Wedding Venues

Theatre shaped how I photograph. If it shaped how you love, I’d love to hear about your wedding.
